A Study to Evaluate Physical Therapy in the Emergency Department

Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine the utility of physical therapy services in the Emergency Department through a prospective satisfaction survey of both providers and patients with physical therapy provided in the emergency department.

A Study to Evaluate Performance Outcomes Following Interventional Treatment of Axial Low Back Pain

Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to determine if intra-articular lumbar facet and sacroiliac joint injections, or lumbar radiofrequency ablation (RFA) are effective in improving 1) patient-reported measures of pain, function and quality of life; 2) capacity; and 3) performance as measured by change in activity counts. Secondarily, the value of measuring capacity and performance following diagnostic medial branch blocks as a predictor of successful outcomes after lumbar RFA will be explored.

A Study to Evaluate Older Adults Experiences with a Physical Therapy Educational Service Learning Project

Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to explore and describe the experiences of community-dwelling older adults following completion of a home safety visit and exercise workbook which are delivered and facilitated through telehealth visits within a physical therapy educational service learning project and in collaboration with a non-profit community partner.

Enhanced EHR-facilitated Cancer Symptom Control E2C2 Pragmatic Clinical Trial

Rochester, Minn. The Enhanced, EHR-facilitated Cancer Symptom Control (E2C2) Pragmatic Clinical Trial will determine whether systematically assessing patient reported outcomes for sleep disturbance, pain, anxiety, depression, and fatigue among patients with solid and liquid malignancies and using these data to increase the frequency of guideline-concordant care by: 1) reporting these data to their clinical teams, 2) providing patients with needs-matched symptom self-management education, and 3) suggesting evidence-based symptom management strategies to their care teams improves patients' quality of life, symptoms, and adherence to cancer treatment, while reducing their unplanned use of healthcare resources.

A Study to Evaluate the Effects of Physical Therapy on Patients Treated with Surgery Periacetabular Osteotomy or PAO for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip DDH

Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess perioperative and postoperative outcomes to date in patients treated with surgery (Periacetabular Osteotomy or PAO) for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) receiving formal postoperative physical therapy versus those patients who did not receive formal postoperative physical therapy.

A Study to Evaluate Meniscal Extrusion with and without Medial Knee Unloader Bracing Using Ultrasound

Minneapolis, Minn. The purpose of this study is to quantify medial meniscal extrusion with and without a medial knee unloader brace using ultrasonography in patients with isolated medial knee pain.

A Study to Evaluate Autologous Adipose Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells to Treat Spinal Cord Injury Patients

Rochester, Minn. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of a single intrathecal injection of autologous, culture expanded AD-MSCs specifically in subjects with severe traumatic SCI when compared to patients undergoing physical therapy.

A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Diaphragmatic Breathing on Reflux Symptoms in Outpatients

Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to establish if abdominal breathing exercises can reduce symptoms associated with reflux.

Mayo Clinic Spinal Cord Injury SCI Rehabilitation Research Registry

Rochester, Minn. This will be a prospective registry conducted and maintained at Mayo Clinic Rochester from which collaborating sites within Mayo, Mayo Health Systems, and other spinal cord injury centers can draw from in order to fulfill research enrollment. The information collected for this registry will be used for recruitment purposes only, and will not be used as research data. Participants who are recruited to participate in other research studies will need to complete a separate consenting/enrollment process specific to that study.

Analysis of Orthobiologic Agents OBA for Painful Musculoskeletal Conditions and Tissue Regeneration

The objectives of this study are to determine the effect of patient factors and manufacturing procedures on OBA product characteristics, to assess the clinical outcomes of patients affected by multiple painful musculoskeletal disorders and tissue regeneration needs that are treated with guided procedures in the Mayo Clinic Pain practice, to assess genetic and epigenetic factors associated to multiple painful musculoskeletal disorders and tissue regeneration needs, to determine the effect of OBA characteristics on patient outcomes for patients treated with OBA procedures, including a reference group of patients not receiving OBAs as part of their medical care.
