Biographical summary

Dr. Robert G Hooper limits his practice to individuals with disorders of sleep. His experience with sleep disorders began while serving in the US Army and directing the Pulmonary Laboratory at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the 1970s where he began sleep testing. After military service, he entered practice in Phoenix Arizona. Trained in pulmonary diseases, his practice included Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He opened a sleep center at Phoenix St. Luke's Medical Center in 1980 and has actively directed a sleep center for 32 of the past 38 years. For the past several years, he has limited his patient care to disorders of sleep. Upon closing his private sleep practice, he joined the staff at Mayo Clinic to continue his professional work. His published medical reports and writings from early in his career cover many areas of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Sleep Disorders have been the focus of his writings more recently. In 2002 he published a book "Sleep and Its Disorders, What You Should Know" for patients with sleep disorders. Dr. Hooper sees patients with complaints of: Sleep related choking, snoring or apnea Sleep related movements Excessive daytime sleepiness Difficulty going to sleep and staying asleep
