Biographical summary

Cardio-oncology is the main interest of Hector R Villarraga M D He has many prospective protocols evaluating changes in myocardial mechanical function in patients who receive proton or photon beam radiotherapy, as well as patients with breast cancer, lymphoma and sarcoma who undergo chemotherapeutic treatment. Dr. Villarraga is also interested in the behavior of myocardial mechanics in low-grade exercise for cancer patients and HFpEF. These changes in myocardial mechanics allow for early detection of cardiotoxicity related to chemotherapy or radiotherapy before a drop in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) occurs.
