To put it simply, you were pissed off. If anyone could do a deep dive into your brain, navigate your nervous systems, and land themselves straight into your amygdala, they would find out just how livid you are. Being betrayed by your comrades was one thing. His spine was pressed up against the side of the wagon while his hands held onto your limp one, hoping and praying that you wouldn't cross the barrier between life and death. Levi Ackerman was no fan of blood, either. Whether it be titan blood that vanished within seconds or the blood of the meaningless pigs that would shoot at him, he found it to be quite gross. He hated your blood even more. To see your body absolutely drenched in it was hard for him to look at, nauseating even, but he made himself keep his gaze on your paling face as the medics assessed your body. "What's their status?" The captain asked, his voice seemingly steady but with an undertone of shakiness. "We can feel a pulse sir, but it's very weak. There's nothing further we can do about the injuries out here - it's going to be up to their body's will to live." Levi drew a sharp breath. "You don't have any inclination in which way it'll go?" He asked, his tone harsh and his face twisted with anger. The medics looked at each other and then back to the man who was clutching your bloodied hand. "It's a matter of whether or not her mind will take to the easier way out." One of them said. "The easy way being death," Levi concludes, one of his hands moving from yours to lightly brush back your hair from your face. "…Yes sir," they answered hesitantly, going back to work on securing the cotton padding to your wound. "She never liked to go the easy way. I sure as hell hope that fact is not changing now." "I thought you were gonna leave me out there," Levi whispered, his hold on you growing a bitighter. "Had me worried," he said, "made me say some crazy stuff." He slowly drifted back and situated himself so that he sat perched on the side of your little bed, careful as to not agitate your injury. "Like when you compared me to sunshine?" You quipped, drawing out a little smile from the captain. "Especially when I compared you to sunshine." A little laugh made its way out of your throat, but it just resulted in a series of coughs, causing Levi to scramble a little bit for a glass of water. "Here. Nice and slow," He instructed, leaning the glass up to your lips so you could swallow some water. After you've settled he gives you a look. "What," you say, getting a sigh from Levi. "I am irrevocably relieved and grateful that you are alive. Do not ever believe otherwise." You snorted a bit in laughter. "I am too, but I don't know why you needed to say it that way." Your gaze is curious and craving the truth behind his words, making Levi turn away. You did not miss the blush that danced across his cheeks. "Levi?" Reluctantly, the captain turned back to you with a flustered expression. You were pretty taken aback at his reaction - never had you seen Levi this emotional, save for the moments when you almost slipped away from him. "I-I've never done this before, okay?" He says softly, his brows furrowed and his mouth in a slight frown which directly contrasted his red face. "I've never felt like this for a person before," he spewed quickly. You stared at him for just a moment before you let your neck slack and your head fall back, laughing. "Oh how the mighty have fallen," You say in between giggles, gaining a faux glare from Levi and a roll from his eyes. "Yeah, well, you know what brat?" He said, moving your hand into his, tracing along your fingers. "You're gonna have to get used to that." You smiled and tried to move forward, but that resulted in a stabbing pain in your side. You hissed in response, letting yourself fall back into the cushion of pillows. Your gaze then flicked down to your bandaged side, and then back to Levi. "How bad is it?" Levi saw the somberness in your eyes, wanting nothing but honesty. "It's pretty bad. You're going to be in recovery for a long time." You sigh and close your eyes, squeezing Levi's hand. "Promise you'll keep me company when you can? I don't want to go crazy in here," You ask, smiling as Levi's mouth formed a smile. "Now I don't even have to ask for a smile as a final request. I get them for free," you grin. "Yeah," Levi said, leaning closer and closer to your face until his lips were mere inches from yours. "You get them for free." His lips were softer than you would've imagined. The kiss itself, was, too. His hand came up to cradle your cheek, brushing your stray hair past your ear. You had to take a breath sooner than you would've liked. "This isn't some hallucination or anything, right? Because whenever people said to me 'sweet dreams' this is kind of what I imagined happening." His smile turned into a grin and a small chuckle escaped his lips. He pinched your arm, indicating that this was in fact reality. "I love you, Y/N. Here, and now, and in your most wildest and sweetest dreams." Melting under his words, you brought him back for another kiss. "And I love you, Levi. Here, and now, and when you're chastising me for getting off task."
