Vorgestellt und kritisch diskutiert werden die sozialisationstheoretischen Ansätze von Habermas, Oevermann, Lorenzer und Luhmann. Bezugspunkt der Diskussion ist die Frage, inwieweit diese Theorien nicht nur erklären, wie gesellschaftliche Bedingungen ein autonomes und vernünftiges Individuum ermöglichen, sondern auch berücksichtigen, inwieweit Menschen in diesen Vermittlungen nicht aufgehen.
