Für den Studenten ist es im Zeitalter der Softwarenutzung unerlässlich, den Lehrstoff, angeleitet von den Übungsaufgaben und detailliert beschriebenen Lösungswegen, selbst nach zu vollziehen. Das Erlernen der Fähigkeit, strömungsmechanische Probleme mathematisch zu formulieren und für ausgewählte Anwendungsbeispiele analytisch und numerisch zu lösen, ist ein wesentliches Ausbildungsziel.
