Ein effizientes Rückstandsmanagement in der Produktion ist ein zentraler Erfolgsfaktor von Unternehmen. Systematische Analysen der Prozesse des Recyclings und der Entsorgung von Produktionsrückständen liegen derzeit jedoch kaum vor. Marion Halfmann entwickelt einen problemorientierten Ansatz, in dem Gestaltungsobjekte und -erfordernisse sowie potentiell auftretende Defekte bei der Planung von Produktion und Reduktion erläutert werden. Die Problematik einer simultanen Programmplanung in beiden Bereichen diskutiert die Autorin anhand von Planungsmodellen, die sich hinsichtlich ihrer Realitätsnähe und Handhabung unterscheiden und so den vielfältigen Problemen des Rückstandsmanagements gerecht werden.
