Watch The $18-Million Bugatti La Voiture Noire Get Wrapped Up For Christmas

Nov. 27, 2021 8:10 PM ET by Martin Bigg Video / 8 Comments The owner of one of the world's most valuable new car is still a mystery. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, aka The Black Car. Based on the Bugatti Chiron, the lustful La Voiture Noire is a modern-day homage to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic and was also built to celebrate Bugatti's 110th anniversary. But whereas the Chiron will set you back around $3 million, the La Voiture Noire is reportedly worth $18 million. At the time, this made it the most valuable new car in the world before the $28 million Rolls-Royce Boat Tail stole that honor.
After the prototype was unveiled in Geneva back in 2019, the final production car was completed back in June ready to be delivered, but the identity of the buyer remains a mystery. A few months after the production car was completed, the La Voiture Noire has been spotted in London making a rare public appearance. A video posted by TheTFJJ on YouT shows the La Voiture Noire arriving in London and being loaded off a truck. However, this special delivery is not for the car's new owner. Instead, the black beauty is being stored in a giant glass box outside The Londoner hotel in Leicester Square, where it will be on display to the public over Christmas. This is the same prototype that was displayed in a glass box in Molsheim over the holidays last year. TheTFJJ/YouTube TheTFJJ/YouTube TheTFJJ/YouTube Like the standard Chiron, the production La Voiture Noire is powered by a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine producing 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque, but the show car has an electric motor so it can be driven to different locations in case you were wondering why it's moving silently. It also has no interior as the design wasn't finalized when the La Voiture Noire was first shown to the public. The fake brake calipers moving around with the wheels are another giveaway that this is not the production car. If you happen to be in Leicester Square over the Christmas holidays, be sure to check out the Bugatti La Voiture Noire display because you probably won't get another opportunity.
