Tesla Rendered As A Hot Wagon Makes Us Forget The Roadster

Nov. 28, 2021 6:58 PM ET by Jake Lingeman Render / 8 Comments Just shut up and take our money. We love a good render here at CarBuzz, both when they're fast-looking versions of cars we already have, or future cars the look just over the horizon. We don't normally say that about Tesla, as it delays cars regularly, but this mockup, from Sugardesign_1 on Instagram, looks like it could go on sale tomorrow. Yes, we know Americans don't like wagons. But they do like tall wagons, aka crossovers, and this could easily be morphed into one of those with a tiny lift and a little extra tire sidewall. And all-wheel drive. https://www.instagram.com/p/CWm1E7LJzhk/ Sugardesign_1 Sugardesign_1 Sugardesign_1 Sugardesign_1 It looks to have the front end of a Model 3, and, as much as we like to complain about Tesla, design isn't one of its problems. The standard Tesla grille is closed off, but the body crease runs a little higher here, and further back. The sloping roof looks to be a huge piece of UV-blocking glass. The tail, though it uses Tesla taillights, has the shape of a BMW wagon. It all looks very sleek and concept-like. To sell this car to the masses (depending on size), the roof might need to be a little taller, to leave more room for people and stuff. It definitely would need more wheel well gap, and possibly higher-profile tires, though those thin ones do look great. Make it all-wheel drive, with a 250-mile range and at a pretax price less than $50,000. It could be a winner. And again, we don't say that often. Sugardesign_1 Sugardesign_1 Sugardesign_1 Obviously, Tesla has a lot on its plate with the Semitruck, which Pepsi may or may not acquire a few of by the end of the year. We're also waiting on the gorgeous new Roadster we were promised (wasn't that thing getting rocket boosters?) and then it needs to work out this whole "full self-driving thing." Regardless, it's fun to see these artists who are also car enthusiasts take a stab at rendering some cool new designs. The public doesn't always like cool new designs, but with a few gentle tweaks, this could be something they could be tricked into liking, in our opinion. Check out the rest of Sugardesigns, designs too, they're all impressive. Sugardesign_1 Sugardesign_1 Sugardesign_1
