Anxious 2022 Corvette Buyers Receive Annoying News

Hopefully, it's the last. There have been enough issues already surrounding the launch of the highly anticipated C8. A member of the Corvette Forum claims they received a message from the National Corvette Museum (NCM) not long before the Thanksgiving holiday stating their car "is part of a large batch needing a wheel replacement. They are working diligently to get the proper wheels from the supplier." What's wrong with the wheels? This actually dates back to late last March when we reported about defective wheel castings that resulted in cracks forming on the wheels, potentially resulting in a tire puncture and, possibly, an accident. Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet It didn't take long for Chevy to discover the issue and take action but, again, it was yet another delay for some. And now it appears to be happening for a second time. Several anxious buyers have been writing on forums that their cars are currently being held up. For the most part, the cars are done and fully assembled but the delivery process cannot be completed until proper wheels are installed. Many of these buyers are part of the NCM delivery program, which is now being forced to reschedule many upcoming deliveries. GM GM GM CarBuzz Chevy noticed the online chatter and provided the following statement to help put owners at ease: "We can confirm that a small percentage vehicles are being held at the factory for a wheel-related quality hold. Manufacturing has been working quickly to resolve the issue and affected vehicles are expected to ship by the end of the month." So, which specific wheel designs are affected? Forum members are claiming there are two types: the standard Open Spoke and the Trident. Hopefully, the matter will be resolved quickly and these deliveries can finally happen.
