2022 Toyota Supra Updated As It Prepares For New Nissan Z

Dec. 23, 2021 9:26 AM ET by Karl Furlong Pricing / 28 Comments There's also an expensive new A91-CF Edition. Orders for the new Nissan Z are expected to open early in January, and this could spell trouble for the Toyota GR Supra. The Nissan is not only more powerful but is expected to undercut the Toyota on price. But Toyota has not been resting on its laurels and has doled out a couple of updates to the 2022 GR Supra to keep it as appealing as possible. We already know that the highlight of the 2022 GR Supra will be the A91-CF Edition, first revealed in June and sporting plenty of carbon fiber along with a duckbill rear spoiler. On the downside, the A91-CF Edition won't be cheap at all, but its allocation of just 600 units should ensure that each one gets snapped up. Toyota Toyota Toyota Toyota The A91-CF Edition comes only with the more powerful 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine that produces 382 horsepower. That's good for a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds. For this model, customers can choose from Nitro Yellow, Phantom, or Absolute Zero exterior paint options. Inside, the A91-CF has a black and red color scheme with materials in leather and Alcantara. The Supra is also available in 2.0, 3.0, and 3.0 Premium trim levels. The 3.0 models now get heated seats equipped as standard, and a new red leather interior color has been made available for the 3.0 Premium. On models equipped with the Premium Audio package, full-screen Apple CarPlay is part of the deal. As before, the 2.0 model gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. There's no sign of a manual-equipped Supra just yet. The 2022 Toyota GR Supra begins at $43,290 for the 2.0, increasing to $51,640 for the 3.0 and $54,790 for the 3.0 Premium. The new A91-CF Edition costs a steep $63,280, money that could get you behind the wheel of a Porsche Cayman. All these prices exclude a $1,025 destination charge.
