800-HP Audi RS6 Takes Christmas Tree On 183-MPH Car Chase

Christmas is almost here, and to get us in the festive spirit Texas tuner Hennessey is once again trying to set the record for the "world's fastest Christmas tree." This tradition started back in 2017 when a modified Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody hit 174 mph with a Christmas tree strapped to the roof. This record was beaten just two years later when a 1,000-hp Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk V8 reached 181 mph with a tree on the roof. Thinking there's still room for improvement, Hennessey has attempted to beat the record yet again, this time using John Hennessey's personal Porsche 911 Turbo S tuned to produce 750 horsepower. Hennessey Performance/YouTube Hennessey Performance/YouTube Blasting down a runway, the modified Porsche 911 Turbo S recorded a top speed of 206 mph without a tree roof. However, with a tree mounted to the roof, the 911 Turbo S could only manage a speed of 175 mph. This was not fast enough to beat the previous speed record, but Hennessey didn't give up. For the next attempt, Hennessey switched to his wife's Audi RS6 Avant wagon. Naturally, it's no stock wagon, as it's tuned to develop 800 hp and has a modified exhaust system. With professional driver and senior Ford Performance Driving School instructor Spencer Geswein behind the wheel, the Audi RS6 Avant achieved 183 mph, making it the world's fastest wagon with a Christmas tree, beating Hennessey's previous record with the Trackhawk. Then, the real holiday fun began when we mounted a real Christmas tree on the roof. To our surprise, her wagon ran a very respectable 183 mph. This was a fun way to end our most recent high speed testing session with our Venom F5. Afterall, who needs reindeer when your wife has an 800 bhp sleigh?" While Hennessey was setting the Christmas tree record, the team was also making the final adjustments to the Venom F5 hypercar, testing the tires, braking and aerodynamics at speeds of over 250 mph in preparation for the 300+ mph record attempt in early 2022.
