A Very Special Toyota Supra Is Coming To The Tokyo Auto Salon

Dec. 30, 2021 6:37 AM ET by Roger Biermann Tuning / 7 Comments It looks ready to stun in the Fast & Furious franchise already. If you're in any way involved in tuning circles or have simply paid even a little attention to Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, you'll know the name VeilSide. The Japanese tuning company is famous for custom aerodynamic body kits with its best-known kit being the orange and black Mazda RX-7 driven by Han Seoul-Oh in Tokyo Drift. But the tuner has something new in the works, and it's ready to reveal all at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon in January. The car in question is none other than the 2022 Toyota GR Supra. The A90 Supra, or Mk5, has proven to be a tuner's delight in much the same way the A80 was. Even the BMW-sourced B58 engine has proven capable of immense tuning potential and hitting 1,000 horsepower with relative ease. VeilSide VeilSide VeilSide The VeilSide kit for the GR Supra has not yet been revealed in full. Instead, all we have are a few teasers of unpainted elements to go by, along with a video (jump to 8:40 to see the Supra) featuring VeilSide founder, Hironao Yokomaku. The most instantly visible difference is the new hood/front bumper combination to create a vastly pronounced nose, emphasizing the detail of the Supra that was most toned down compared to the Toyota FT-1 concept that previewed the car. The bumper itself has pronounced spoilers and winglets, and vents accentuate the headlights. VeilSide VeilSide VeilSide Veilside is famous for widebody kits, so naturally, the front and rear fenders have been widened, as has the track at both ends. The rear haunches accentuate the natural lines of the Supra, while a prominent ducktail spoiler makes the new A91 CF Edition look tame. The parts are unpainted at the moment, and the prep car is finished in black, meaning it's difficult to see the final product in full detail. We'll know more soon though, as the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon runs from 14-16 January. Pricing will likely be announced thereafter. VeilSide VeilSide VeilSide VeilSide VeilSide
