There' s A Bidding War For This Rare Spyker C8 Spyder

Jan. 01, 2022 10:46 AM ET by Jay Traugott For Sale / 5 Comments It's already well into six figures. The last time we heard from Dutch supercar company Spyker was back in August 2020 when it was announced funding from two motorsport companies was incoming. The goal was to begin building new supercars like the C8 Preliator in 2021. It then filed for bankruptcy but we've just heard that an investor group is ready to revive the boutique carmaker. While Spyker fans digest this exciting bit of news on the last day of the year, they can enjoy this high-quality example of a 2006 C8 Spyder. Currently up for auction on Collecting Cars is this 9,333-mile black-on-black C8 Spyder. Power comes courtesy of an Audi-sourced 4.2-liter V8 good for 400 horsepower. And yes, Spyker made the best-looking gear shifters of all time with the exposed shift linkage covering the center console. The interior is covered in quilted black leather and there are machine-turned aluminum accents scattered about the cabin. Everything about the interior is literally a work of art. The pedals are made entirely from aluminum and things like air conditioning vents and power window controls are all handcrafted. Other impressive design attributes include a clamshell front lid, polished side intake scoops, and, of course, the scissor doors. It rides on an aluminum suspension with Koni shock absorbers and Eibach springs. The listing states there's absolutely no damage inside or out. This mid-engined exotic is all-original. The car underwent an extensive engine-out service in March 2020 out in Southern California. The belts, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, brake and transmission fluid, ignition coils, and oil and air filters were all replaced. As of this writing, the highest bid has already reached $150,000, up from the previous $80,008 bid. The auction is scheduled to conclude on January 6, 2022. There's still plenty of time for the price to climb even higher. We suspect it will. Collecting Cars Collecting Cars Collecting Cars
