Latest BMW M3 Touring Teaser Will Spark Immense Jealousy

Jan. 02, 2022 5:29 PM ET by Jay Traugott Teaser / 7 Comments Specifically in the US. Despite our best efforts here in the US, BMW will not be bringing its upcoming M3 wagon, known as the Touring overseas, to this country later this year. An extremely vocal group of enthusiasts banded together and tried to convince the German automaker otherwise but to no avail. To its full credit, BMW listened to its fans and reconsidered the idea but the business case still didn't make sense. At least people tried. Moving on, BMW is wasting no time getting European customers stoked with this latest teaser video on Instagram. This wasn't just some studio-filmed clip but rather a fully-fledged outdoor adventure featuring mountains, lots of snow, and a helicopter. BMW/Instagram BMW/Instagram BMW/Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CYKVmlRrfhS/ With standard all-wheel drive, a dual-clutch gearbox, and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six with at least 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, this near production-ready M3 wagon test mule clearly dominates the type of terrain and harsh weather that's normally reserved for SUVs and trucks. On top of that, BMW has strongly hinted it intends to set a new Nurburgring lap record for wagons. An official reveal date has not been announced and, normally, we would have pegged that for Geneva in March, but that event has been canceled (again). Therefore, we wouldn't be surprised if BMW has a debut planned for later this month. It'd actually be a good time. BMW BMW BMW The wagon's AWD system is definitely appealing for winter and it could help lead into a 'Ring record attempt come March (or, perhaps, it secretly already set one). Currently, the Green Hell is closed for the season. Not everyone has been a fan of the latest generation M3's styling along with the entire 4 Series lineup. The front end is controversial but we always respect bold design decisions. They don't always work out but you gotta appreciate the attempt. BMW may be delving into the fully electric vehicle market but it's still not abandoning all-powerful combustion-engined M cars. The M3 wagon, like the M3 sedan, will be highly sought after - for those who can get one. BMW BMW
