Buy A New Dodge Challenger Or Charger Hellcat Before It' s Too Late

Dec. 11, 2021 12:28 PM ET by Jay Traugott Muscle Cars / 12 Comments 2022 order books are now open. 2023 will be their final year. The end of the Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcats will happen at the conclusion of the 2023 model year. The automaker confirmed this news last month. More than likely, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine will be retired as well. This makes sense because we already knew there won't be a second-generation Grand Cherokee Trackhawk or a Durango SRT Hellcat. There's simply nothing left to stuff the engine into. But that's an issue for later because Dodge has just announced that the order books for the 2022 Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak Package models are now open. Both trims were introduced last month as well. Why are they so special? Dodge Dodge Dodge Dodge Because they unlock things like color combinations that were previously not available to order. There's also new factory options like seats, wheels, exterior badging and stripes, brake caliper colors, and Hammerhead Grey Laguna leather seats. Owners will also get unique badging on the instrument panel. All told, Jailbreak customers will have access to more than 20 categories of styling combinations. This is how you make your Hellcat unique and, potentially, one-of-a-kind. For those who don't have the patience to put together their own color and styling combos, Dodge's product design office has already done that for them with the "Old School" and "Brass Funky" combinations. The Jailbreak option package is actually a bargain at just $995. Dodge is taking full advantage of the Hellcat's remaining lifetime as the Jailbreak models are just the start of the two-year Never Lift campaign that will see several new "models and initiatives." Dodge points out that the first phase of Jailbreak orders is only open for customer-sold cars. All orders are handled by dealerships. Like nearly every major automaker, Dodge will embrace electrification and aims to launch its first fully electric muscle car in 2024. Dodge Dodge Dodge Dodge
