Ford Maverick Could Get The F-150' s Coolest New Feature

Despite a few supplier-related issues, the launches of the Bronco, Bronco Sport, and Maverick have gone extremely well. The Mustang Mach-E is a smash hit and the F-150 Lightning is literally sold out. But let's not forget about a certain feature on the F-150 Hybrid, aka the Power Boost: the Pro Power Onboard system, which can serve as a power generator. Normally, it'll provide extra juice when camping, tailgating, and for power tools when out on the job. When a severe winter storm slammed Texas last winter and left millions without power, the F-150 Hybrid helped save the day by providing electricity to some private homes. Ford even asked area dealerships to temporarily donate unsold F-150 Hybrids for additional assistance. Pro Power Onboard tech more than proved its worth. Ford Ford Ford Muscle Cars and Trucks is now reporting that the Blue Oval is strongly considering adding this feature to the Maverick. "Pro Power Onboard has been wildly successful with F-Series. We're looking at that. As we go forward with Maverick we're assessing if that's something that we wanna do, as well," said Maverick marketing manager Trevor Scott. It's important to point out that the Maverick already comes equipped with several 110V outlets for things like laptops and other generally small electronic devices. What it can't do is power a house. But adding the Pro Power Onboard technology may not be so simple. Ford Ford Ford The Maverick and F-150 each have different electrical architectures, meaning the Maverick was never designed to handle it. But that doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done. "There is a plan to migrate to that architecture in the future. I won't give you exact timing specifics, but we're also discussing internally on what kind of DNA runs through all of our trucks." Say if Ford's engineers do come up with a solution, would this mean the Pro Power system is limited only to the Maverick Hybrid? That would make sense. The hybrid is already sold out for model year 2022 and tacking on the Pro Power Onboard option would make the variant even more attractive. We're all for this.
