Aston Martin DBX Spied Attacking The Nurburgring

Sep. 17, 2019 11:15 AM ET by Martin Bigg Spy Shots / Comments Aston Martin's first-ever SUV will debut in December. Aston Martin's first-ever SUV will be unveiled at the end of the year to take on the Porsche Cayenne, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and Bentley Bentayga Speed. While some may find the idea of Aston Martin joining the SUV bandwagon sacrilegious, CEO Andy Palmer has said the DBX will be the company's most important new model in its entire history.
We've already seen prototypes of the DBX undergoing testing, but we were recently given a first look at the DBX in production form. Testing appears to be advancing to the next stage because the production DBX has been spotted getting a workout at the Nurburgring to test the handling in preparation for its public debut. Unlike the test mules that Aston Martin has shown, this DBX is sporting production headlights, taillights, and body panels. The SUV is still disguised in camouflage, but it's already looking like one of the most stylish SUVs on the market. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz Compared to the original high-riding DBX Concept revealed back in 2015, the production DBX will be a sleek five-door crossover with a long wheelbase and short front overhangs. Despite being the automaker's first SUV, the DBX is still instantly recognizable as an Aston Martin thanks to its iconic grille borrowed from other DB models like the DB11 and DBS Superleggera. At the front, the bumper features sleek integrated LED daytime running lights, while the taillight design appears to be inspired by the Vantage's. A dual exhaust system and a roof-mounted spoiler also hint at the DBX's performance, and we can now see the production version's pop-out door handles. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz The DBX is expected to pack the same Mercedes-AMG-sourced, 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as the Vantage, which produces 503 horsepower and 505 lb-ft of torque, but a 5.2 liter V12 could also be offered. Previous spy shots have also shown the DBX's cabin will share components with Mercedes-AMG models such as the steering wheel and infotainment system. Aston Martin has confirmed the DBX will debut this December. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz
