Porsche Taycan Engine Noise Option Price Is Jaw-Dropping

Suddenly you couldn't go anywhere without hearing custom ring tones, whether it was the Imperial March from Star Wars assigned to the in-law's phone number or the klaxon warning sound announcing someone's wife or husband calling. At one point, the ringtone industry surpassed the music industry in sales of MP3s. Thankfully the unique or "wacky" ringtone is dead, but now that electric cars are on the rise, as is legislation to have them make a detectable noise, we could be seeing a new market for MP3 sounds. And Porsche is, of course, at the cutting edge of charging customers for the sound they hear in their electric car. Porsche Porsche Porsche Jalopnik caught the fact that in the configurator for the Porsche Taycan Turbo, there's an option called Porsche Electric Sport Sound priced at a jaw-dropping $500. If you would like to see for yourself, it's only an option on the Taycan Turbo and it's under the performance tab because, apparently, Porsche has absolutely zero shame here. And now that Porsche has set the bar, expect others to follow as this sets up a whole new revenue stream for electric cars. BMW could well be eyeing this development and proposing a subscription model for electric car sounds. Porsche For comparison, power-folding mirrors are just a $330 option on the Porsche Taycan, as are Under Door Puddle Light Light Projectors. Porsche's LED-Matrix Dynamic light System Plus is only $80 more than the Porsche Electric Sport Sound, while a fire extinguisher is just $140. What we would recommend though is simply enjoying the fact you don't need to turn the volume up on the sound system and go nuts on music. $500 will get you 50 music albums to download and listen to with a mood for every drive.
