Mini Celebrates 10 000 000 Cars In Style

The Cooper SE debuted this year as the manufacturer's first-ever fully electric vehicle, and the original Mini also turned 60 this year. Mini also recently celebrated a significant production milestone last month, as the ten-millionth car rolled off the assembly line at the company's Oxford plant last month. At this year's Frankfurt Auto Show, the commemorative Mini was proudly displayed alongside the electric Cooper SE. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz Appropriately, the ten-millionth Mini to roll off the production line was a special 60 Years Edition of the Cooper S, one of only 500 available in the UK. This special anniversary-edition is distinguished by its exclusive British Racing Green IV paint job and piano black exterior trim, as well as a black roof and exterior mirror caps, special anniversary design hood stripes, and exclusive two-tone 17-inch light-alloy wheels. For its appearance in Frankfurt, Mini also added "10 millionth Mini" lettering to the rear bumper. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz Inside, a '60 Years' emblem has been aplied to the steering wheel and the seats are trimmed in brown leather upholstery with green accents and piping that matches the exterior. Being based on the Cooper S means the 60 Years Edition Mini uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 192 horsepower. Before it was showcased at Frankfurt, the ten-millionth Mini joined a 61-car convoy as part of an 84-mile trip from Mini's Oxford factory to Bristol to attend the International Mini Meet, which was led by the first classic Mini ever built. The classic Mini launched in 1959 and was made in Oxford until 1968 before moving to Longbridge, where it remained in production until 2000. Today, a new Mini is built at the Oxford plant every 67 seconds to keep up with the demand. Following its appearance in Frankfurt, the ten-millionth Mini will make appearances at special events.
