2019 Ford F-150 Raptor Top Speed Is Actually Kind Of Slow

Those that want more power resulting in higher speeds, head to the aftermarket market, where the likes of Hennessey Performance can be found. The stock Raptor, however, will win few drag races, but that's not what it was designed and engineered to do. It's a serious off-roader, first and foremost. At the same time, it's an extremely comfortable daily driver with tons of premium convenience features. While probably not the easiest to park, the Raptor does everything well. But how fast can it go? Specifically, what is its top speed? A 2019 Raptor owner wanted to find out so they went to the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida for testing. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz The result? A top speed of 107 mph though it could probably go even faster were it not for the electronic speed limiter. Given that the truck weighs nearly 6,000 pounds, the Raptor's current factory-spec top speed is actually not so bad. This can be attributed to its 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 producing 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Power is directed to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. It's also important to note that this 3.5-liter V6 will continue to be offered in the next-generation F-150, though it may not be the most powerful. There was a rumor over the summer claiming the automaker is considering adapting the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 found in the Mustang Shelby GT500 for an ultra-high performance Raptor. If this is indeed the plan, then we could be looking at a Raptor with around 700 hp. Without question it'll be capable of a top speed in excess of 107 mph, though Ford may once again electronically limit that (hint: limiters can be removed, just saying).
