What Is Bentley Hiding With This Bentayga Refresh

Aug. 22, 2019 10:35 AM ET by Jared Rosenholtz Spy Shots / 4 Comments Could we potentially see some new engine options and technology? The Bentley Bentayga doesn't feel like an old vehicle but it has already been three years since it was revealed. Bentley has kept its first SUV fresh with various special editions and the company may eventually add more SUVs to its lineup. But for now, the Bentayga will be Bentley's one and only SUV and the ultra-luxury model is set to receive a facelift. Our spy photographers recently spotted a camouflaged Bentayga out testing, previewing what's in store for the facelifted model. Since the front end is heavily camouflaged, we suspect there will be some major changes on the front and rear to better align with the recently-revealed Flying Spur sedan. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz The facelift will likely include a new grille, headlights, bumper, and taillights. As with the new Flying Spur, Bentley could switch from a flat emblem to a retractable Flying B ornament. There aren't any photos of the interior but our photographers say the cabin was heavily camouflaged as well. The Bentayga facelift should add Bentley's latest technology such as the rotating infotainment display with three unique sides. Along with the visual updates, Bentley will likely offer some tweaks to what's under the hood. Bentley currently offers six distinct flavors of the Bentayga with V6 hybrid, V8, and W12 engines, but this facelift should match the engines offered in the new Flying Spur. So far, that means a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 pumping out 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. This is the same engine currently found in the Bentayga Speed, meaning an even more potent Bentayga Speed could be on the way. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz With new entrants to the segment like the Aston Martin DBX and the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley needs to avoid letting the Bentayga go stale. It is still unknown when this update will be released but perhaps we will see it as a 2021 model later in 2020. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz
