Ferrari Ready To Unveil Two New Convertibles

Sep. 03, 2019 11:53 AM ET by Martin Bigg Leaked / 1 Comment September is going to be an eventful month for Ferrari fans. Last month, Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri confirmed that two new models will be unveiled this September during a two-week event hosted at the Fiorano Circuit in Maranello, Italy. That's this month, in case you didn't realize. At the time, Camilleri didn't offer any hints about these mystery models, but Ferrari Chat member "Trax" has revealed the cars' identities on Instagram.

The paperweights show a design sketch of each model, with one being referred to as a "new V12 Spider" and the other as a "new V8 Spider." What we're most likely looking at here is the long-rumored 812 Superfast Spider and a convertible F8 Tributo. We still don't know the official name of either model, but the open-top 812 Superfast is rumored to be called the 812 GTS. The covers will come off the 812-based convertible on September 9, while the F8-based model will reportedly debut on September 24. That means the 812 GTS will adopt a 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12, which produces 789 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque in the 812 Superfast. 0-62 mph takes just 2.8 seconds in the 812 Superfast, but the convertible variant might be slightly slower off the line due to its extra weight. The F8 Spider, on the other hand, will utilize the F8 Tributo's 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 that sends 720 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, enabling the hardtop variant to sprint from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds. Earlier this year, Ferrari confirmed we can expect to see five new models debut this year. Potentially, we now know four of them since the Ferrari F8 Tributo and SF90 Stradale hybrid supercar have already been revealed this year. The final debut is expected to be a grand-tourer, which could be Ferrari's new V6-powered model, while the Purosangue SUV won't arrive until 2022. Ferrari Ferrari Ferrari Ferrari
