Here's one idea of how that might look. It's called the Polestar S concept, and it's the master's thesis project undertaken by one Yin Ge – a budding Chinese designer studying at the Hochshule Pforzheim, a university in southwestern Germany. Yin Ge via Behance Yin Ge via Behance Yin Ge via Behance As sharply creased as Polestar's (and parent Volvo's) designs have been, Yin's is much more so. We see some similarities with the Corvette Stingray concept that previewed the C7 back in 2009, and Bertone's Alfa Romeo BAT concepts – but again, this design is sharper still. There's barely a rounded curve on the design, dominated as it is almost entirely by razor-edge lines and shoulders that would make an NFL lineman look wimpy by comparison. The greenhouse, set far in from the flanks behind a steeply raked windshield, gives the design an air of meaning business. It's minimalist and geometric in the extreme, and we dig it for that. Does that mean it will ever see production? Sadly not, we're afraid. But that's not the point. It's a design study undertaken by a student. And on the strength of her work, we hope and trust Yin will get a solid gig with a major automaker – say, maybe in nearby Stuttgart – to help shape the electric vehicles of the future. Sep. 03, 2019 7:58 AM ET by Noah Joseph Design / 18 Comments It is the rolling embodiment of geometric minimalism. Polestar is starting out with a bang, relaunching itself as a dedicated electrified vehicle brand with the 600-horsepower Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid coupe. And soon it can start fleshing out the rest of its lineup. But what if, somewhere down the line, it opted to make something even more extreme – a halo vehicle to convey to the world what it stands for? Here's one idea of how that might look. It's called the Polestar S concept, and it's the master's thesis project undertaken by one Yin Ge – a budding Chinese designer studying at the Hochshule Pforzheim, a university in southwestern Germany.
