Is This Lamborghini' s New Hybrid Hypercar

Sep. 02, 2019 8:58 AM ET by Martin Bigg Teaser / Comments Lamborghini has something special planned for Frankfurt next week. Last month, Lamborghini announced it has a special new model reveal planned for the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show on September 10 following the debuts of the limited-edition Aventador SVJ 63 and Huracan Evo GT Celebration at Pebble Beach. While the shadowy shot of the new hypercar's front silhouette didn't give much away, the design shared some similarities with the striking Terzo Millennio concept unveiled back in 2017. Now, the automaker has posted a new sketch design of the mystery hypercar on Instagram revealing some more design details. The automaker shared the teaser with the following caption: "We are getting ready for @iaamesse. And you?" Lamborghini via Instagram Lamborghini We get to see a designer sketch out the design of the new hypercar's front-end, revealing the car's slim LED headlights flanked by distinctive Y-shaped daytime running lights that resemble the ones on the Terzo Millennio. Elsewhere, the new hypercar features a double-bubble roof just like the concept. Could we be looking at the production version of the Terzo Millennio? Quite possibly. But while the Terzo Millennio was fully electric, Lamborghini's new hypercar is expected to be the automaker's first hybrid supercar. Lamborghini Lamborghini Reports emerged last year that Lamborghini has allegedly already shown a prototype of its new hybrid hypercar to prospective customers at a private event in Italy codenamed the LB48H. The final car will reportedly be called the Unico, while production is expected to be limited to 63 units each costing around $2.5 million. We wouldn't be surprised if every model has already been snapped up by Lamborghini's wealthy clients. If it's based on the Aventador like reports claim, Lamborghini's new hypercar will be powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12. Coupled with an electric motor, this setup could produce a combined output of around 838 hp. At this stage, it's still unclear whether Lamborghini's new mystery model will be a prototype, a concept, or a limited-edition hypercar, but we can't wait to find out. All will be revealed in just over a week. Lamborghini Lamborghini Lamborghini
