This Is How Fast The 2020 Corvette C8 Will Hit The 1 4-Mile

Its mid-mounted 6.2-liter LT2 V8 generates 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque going out to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Chevy says with the Z51 Package equipped, the new Vette will hit 60 mph in under three seconds, making it nearly as quick as the outgoing C7 generation Z06 and ZR1. But how would the C8 fare in a drag race with its front-engined predecessors? Chevy has not released the full set of performance statistics for the C8 but a leaked booklet from a GM engineer posted on Corvette Forum may give us the answer. Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet These numbers are still unconfirmed but the information looks to be legitimate, and if the stats are true, they reveal the C8 to be one incredibly fast car. The new Vette is rated to hit 60 mph in 2.9-3.0 seconds. This much we already knew, but the 0-30 mph time is listed at a blisteringly quickly 1.1 seconds, and the 0-100 mph time is 7.6 seconds. In the quarter-mile, the C8 was clocked with a time of 11.3 seconds at 121 mph, meaning it would be edged out by the C7 Z06, which can do the quarter-mile in 10.95 seconds at 127 mph. BJ67 via Corvette Forum Chevrolet The stats make sense because the C8's mid-engine layout and dual-clutch transmission help it get off to a quick start, but in a quarter-mile drag race, the Z06's 650 hp supercharged V8 would eventually help it take the lead. With rumors emerging of an 800 hp Z06 or ZR1 coming in the near future, the C8 will only get quicker from here. But the base car is already a performance bargain with a starting price under $60,000. With a quarter-mile time of 11.3 seconds, the Z51 Corvette is already quicker than competitors like the 2020 Toyota Supra (12.3 seconds) and 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat (11.8 seconds), and tied with the far more expensive Acura NSX (11.3 seconds at 123 mph).
