FCA's truck brand released this teaser video ahead of the new Ram HD's reveal tomorrow at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. And while it doesn't give us a whole lot to go on, it does promise that the new professional-grade truck will be "the most capable heavy duty pickup ever." But the boys in Auburn Hills evidently feel comfortable asserting that their challenger will outclass them all. Just by what standard they use to define the term "capable," we don't know. But the outgoing Ram 3500 already boasts a payload capacity up to 7,350 pounds, towing capability of over 30,000 pounds, and as much as 410 horsepower and 930 lb-ft of torque (depending on configuration). Ram Ram Ram Ram We can expect the new Ram HD to surpass those figures, and introduce many (if not all) of the improvements made to the light-duty Ram to the heavy-duty model as well. It'll be particularly interesting to see whether FCA will extend the mild-hybrid eTorque system – offered in the Ram 1500 with either the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 or the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 – to the bigger version. The outgoing Ram HD is available with neither of those engines, offering instead a larger 6.4-liter Hemi or the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel six.
