Toyota Mark X GRMN Is A Camry On Steroids

Jan. 13, 2019 8:00 AM ET by Martin Bigg Reveal / 18 Comments Production will be limited to 350 units. After a four-year absence, the Toyota Mark X GRMN has made a triumphant return in Japan at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Essentially, the Mark X is Japan's equivalent to the Toyota Camry in America. The latest car to get the hardcore GRMN treatment is based on the Mark X 350 RDS. Compared to the standard car, the GRMN variant features a more aggressive front bumper and larger air intakes, as well as a minimalist grille, gloss black accents and 19-inch BBS forged aluminum wheels. At the back, the Mark X GRMN has a ventilated rear bumper, a rear spoiler, and a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system. It also gets an upgraded braking system with white calipers featuring the GR logo. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. To make the handling more responsive, the Mark X GRMN also gets retuned suspension with revised shock absorbers and a modified electric power steering system. Other interior highlights include carbon fiber trim, piano black accents and alloy pedals. While its predecessor was limited to 100 units, production of the new Toyota Mark X GRMN will be limited to 350 units, with pricing starting at ¥5.13 million ($47,336). Customers can also order an optional carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof for ¥270,000 ($2,490), which removes 22 lbs of weight and lowers the car's center of gravity. Toyota Gazoo Racing Toyota
