At last year's CES, Chinese start-up Byton unveiled a concept previewing a future electric SUV called the M-Byte that will take on the Tesla Model X with a range of up to 323 miles and two powertrain configurations, including a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system with 469 hp. With this year's CES now only a few days away, the start-up company has announced it will showcase a new revolutionary "Driver Tablet," which the company describes as the "world's most intuitive automotive interface." Details are being kept under wraps for now, but the teaser image appears to show the production version of the M-Byte's interior with a steering wheel that features an integrated screen providing easy access to features such as the radio and climate control system, general settings, and apps. Byton Byton Byton A 49-inch display, which Byton calls a "Shared Experience Display," can also be seen in the teaser image, which will feature gesture and voice control. In the concept, the screen brightness also automatically adjusts depending on the lighting conditions. Byton says the dashboard "now adopts a wraparound design, integrating smart sensors and physical buttons with elegant curves and rich layers." The company will also reveal "more personalized, connected applications and services" at CES. Byton Byton Byton More details about the Driver Tablet will be shared on January 6 before the Byton M-Byte enters production in China later this year. The electric SUV will then arrive in the US in 2020 with a starting price of $45,000. The entry-level model will have a 71 kWh battery pack powering an electric motor that produces 268 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, enabling the rear-wheel-drive crossover to travel up to 248 miles on a single charge. The all-wheel drive variant, on the other hand, will have two electric motors that produce a combined output of 469 hp and 523 lb-ft of torque.
