2020 Kia Telluride Teased Before Detroit Debut

Kia will finally be lifting the wraps off the production-ready 2020 Telluride at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show next month two years after the stunning concept was unveiled. Ahead of its global debut, the Korean automaker has released a new teaser video explaining the design inspiration of its upcoming flagship SUV. Kia bills the Telluride as a large full-size premium crossover that's "big, bold, and boxy" and has a substantial presence. Not much of the exterior is shown, unfortunately, but we do get brief glimpses of the Telluride's large grille, LED-framed headlights, and distinctive L-shaped taillights. We already have a good idea what the final model will look like though, thanks to the near-production concept that debuted in New York and recently shown off at the LA Auto Show last month. Inside, there's a leather-wrapped steering wheel with gloss black accents, as well as perforated black leather seats with contrast stitching integrated into the backrest. The center stack also has a wide central air vent above two rows of switches. With room for up to eight people, the 2020 Telluride will be Kia's largest and most luxurious SUV yet. Kia claims it will "redefine the premium SUV" and take people by surprise, just like the Stinger did. Technical specifications are being kept under wraps for now, but the 2020 Hyundai Palisade should give us an idea of what to expect. Hyundai's premium SUV rides on an all-new platform and is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 that produces an estimated 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The V6 unit is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission that can be paired with an optional all-wheel-drive system. It also has a luxurious interior with Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated second-row captain's chairs, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, and a power-folding third row.
