The Buick Enspire Will Take Cadillac XT4 To New Heights

Last spring Buick unveiled the Enspire concept at the Beijing Auto Show and we immediately liked its design inside and out. Why Beijing and not some US-based venue? Because Buick has long been a very popular brand in China and GM has credited that market with helping to convince the US government back in 2008 Buick was worth saving. And now it appears Buick is going ahead with the Enspire nameplate which, according to GM Authority, has just been registered with US Patent and Trademark Office. This is actually the second time GM has filed to secure this specific trademark. Buick Buick Buick The first time was back in 2015. But now it seems Buick is serious about using the Enspire name for a production model, not just a concept. So, what will that eventually vehicle be? More than likely it will be yet another crossover, sharing a platform with the Cadillac XT4, Chevrolet Malibu, and Buick Regal. Considering a majority of the engineering work for this architecture has long since been completed, the Buick Enspire could debut in the very near future. A 2019 debut should not be ruled out. The Enspire sounds like it will be a heavily restyled XT4, in other words. It will also boast a new interior in line with Buick's latest styling language. But unlike the concept, the production version is not expected to be an all-electric crossover. Instead, power is most likely to come from the XT4's turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 237 hp and 228 lb-ft of torque. We've reached out to Buick seeking comment and will update this space if we receive a reply. More than likely, we'll be told the usual "we don't comment on future product." Assuming the Enspire is on the way, expect for it to fill the slot in the brand's lineup above the Envision, which is about the same size.
