Check Out The 2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition In Action

Over the past few years, Toyota's luxury brand has introduced more aggressive and controversial exterior styling and even a supercar, the now discontinued LFA. Although it does not have a direct successor (yet), today we have the LC grand tourer and the RC F coupe. While we're still hoping for a high-performance LC F in the near future, Lexus figured it was time to make the RC F even more extreme. Set to make its debut this coming Monday at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show, the 2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition was teased earlier this month with a single image of its fixed carbon fiber rear spoiler. Today, Lexus has just released another teaser, only it's a video. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz While extremely short (just 13 seconds), it flashes images of a racing driver and, presumably, the car itself running some hot laps. Lexus says that the RC F Track Edition "turns hot laps all day…and heads all night." Consider us intrigued. Our spy photographers have also caught nearly production ready prototypes out doing their thing at the Nurburgring. The RC F Track Edition will essentially be a production version of the track-focused RC FT GT concept first shown back in 2015. The concept retained the coupe's naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 but weight was reduced to a far healthier 3,130 pounds thanks to plenty of carbon fiber components, such as the hood, roof, and side sills. A top company official previously promised the RC F will be the "fastest, most powerful" Lexus model since the LFA, so fingers crossed. What we do expect is to see are the same mid-life updates the rest of the RC lineup recently received, which are mainly slight styling tweaks. We'll be on hand at Detroit next week for the official reveal of the 2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition and will also be speaking with a few Lexus officials too, so plenty of more details to come.
