The Fate Of The Furious Will Be The Last Film In The Franchise

Its humble beginnings as a low budget Point Break rip-off with street racing have been long forgotten. Since then, the series has exploded into the bombastic automotive action series it is today with no signs of slowing down. However, those who were looking forward to Fast and Furious 9 and 10 will be disappointed to learn that the eighth film, The Fate of the Furious releasing this month, will now be the last in the franchise. Fans of the series will recall that "one last ride" has been an ironic catchphrase throughout the franchise despite so many sequels being churned out, but The Fate of the Furious really will be the last ride for Vin Diesel and his crew. On-screen, the group is portrayed as a close 'family' that look out for each other, but things couldn't be any different on-set. It's been widely reported that some of the main stars feuded during filming. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has spoken on social media about some of the spats he had on set with Vin Diesel, describing him as "chicken shit" and a "candy ass." Then there were more warning signs when Dwayne Johnson didn't appear at recent press tour events for the film. The Rock's character was destined to continue as a series regular. Now, Vin Diesel has said he refuses to work with him and won't be reprising his role as Dominic Toretto in future films, leaving the studio with no option but to cancel the planned production of Fast and Furious 9 and 10. While the series continued after Paul Walker's untimely death, it seems the studio can't see the series making enough money without Vin Diesel's deadpan face on the poster. We can't say we're that disappointed – the series has run its course, and Fate of the Furious promises to be a spectacular send-off. It's just a shame we won't get to see the final Fast and Furious film be called "The Last Ride."
