Dodge Demon Uses Air Conditioning To Keep The Engine Cool

We're now just weeks away from the reveal of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which also means its excessively long teaser campaign will finally end. Dodge isn't done with drip feeding us just yet though, as this latest teaser reveals another first for a production car. Last week, we learned that the Dodge Demon will be the first road car to be fitted with a TransBrake normally reserved for dedicated drag racers. Now, Dodge has revealed it will also be the first-ever factory production car to feature a liquid-to-air charge air cooler chiller system. It's a lot simpler than the convoluted name implies. When in drag mode, the air conditioning system is diverted from the cabin to cool down the engine's charge air cooling system, allowing it to "achieve charge air induction temperatures previously unattainable by pressure-charged street-legal production vehicles." Dodge This unique performance feature will reduce air intake temperatures by up to 45 degrees Fahrenheit, which, when combined with its massive functional hood scoop, should give it a significant performance boost and combat the extra heat produced from the supercharged Hemi. These temperatures are "enough to make the engine perform like it is running in the cold Alaskan air, even after a day of runs down the strip, on a hot summer day." Conventional cooling methods usually consist of using air or coolant with an intercooler, but let's face it, the Dodge Demon is anything but conventional. Now we just have to wait until April 11 to find out if its power output matches the rumored 757-horsepower.
