This Is The Rolls-Royce Ghost With 1 000 Crushed Diamonds In Its Paint

Mar. 08, 2017 4:30 PM ET by Jay Traugott Reveal / 14 Comments Why does this exist? Because a customer had the money. A few days ago Rolls-Royce revealed one of its most opulent creations to date, the Ghost Elegance. It's not just a clever name. Reason being is that it features 1,000 crushed diamonds in its exterior paint. This wasn't just something Rolls-Royce woke up and decided to do one day, but rather the car was commissioned by an extremely wealthy collector, and that individual was kind enough to allow the luxury automaker to display the car here at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The unique finish is called "Diamond Stardust," described as "the most luxurious and lustrous exterior ever seen on a motor car." We dare anyone to challenge Rolls-Royce on this one. This also just happens to be the most expensive paint job RR has ever done, but we still weren't told an exact price. What we do know is that entire process took brand specialists two months to figure out, and the end result is stunning. There's a fine diamond powder mixed into the paint. A further layer of lacquer was then added to protect the diamond particles during the polishing process, and that part alone took two days. Rolls-Royce says the end result is a paint finish that "glistens like no other." If you happen to be in Geneva in the next week or so, stop by the show and head on over to the Rolls-Royce stand. There's no way you'll not see that diamond encrusted paint as you walk by. And yes, being insanely rich definitely has endless benefits. Rolls-Royce
