We Finally Know What The Lamborghini Urus Will Look Like

Feb. 10, 2017 3:00 PM ET by Michael Hines Spy Shots / 26 Comments Lamborghini's new SUV has just been spotted testing for the first time ever. There's a reason why every article about the Lamborghini Urus recycles the same photos. We don't have any other images to work with. There are the live shots of the concept from the 2012 Beijing Auto Show and the accompanying renderings. That's about it. The Italian automaker deserves an award for keeping the look of such a high-profile car under wraps for so long. Nothing lasts forever, though, as this fresh batch of Lamborghini Urus spy shots prove. This is the first time we've seen the SUV out testing in its actual production body. Previously a test mule wearing an Audi Q7's body was spotted in Munich, Germany. These shots come from Norway and clearly show a pre-production Urus in disguise. There are no shots of the rear so we can't paint a complete picture just yet. Still, the angles available look promising. It appears that Lamborghini has left well enough alone. The almost-finished Urus doesn't look identical to the concept car, with the front end having been restyled a bit. The roofline looks to have been raised a bit as well. It still looks like headroom will be a problem for those in the back. We doubt passengers will care much. Lamborghini has talked endlessly about how the Urus will actually be able to off-road and it looks like that will be true(ish). The wheel wells, at least the front ones, look as if they'll be able to provide the tires a fair amount of travel. Power will come from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. No word on whether a naturally aspirated V10 or V12 engine will ever be put under the hood. We wouldn't doubt it, especially when it comes to special edition models. A hybrid will eventually make production but not for a handful of years, this per Lamborghini's CEO. April, the month production kicks off, is fast-approaching. That means more Urus spy shots will be coming our way (and yours) sooner rather than later.
