These Custom Rolls-Royce Wraiths Celebrate Revered Rock Artists

Let's face it, to be able to afford a Rolls-Royce you need to be either obscenely rich or famous. While the ridiculous Rolls-Royce Ghost coated with 1,000 crushed diamonds was designed for the former, a new bespoke series of Rolls-Royce Wraiths have been designed to honor some of the most famous British rock acts in the world. The luxury carmaker has revealed the first four bespoke Wraiths in a series of nine, and while it may sound gimmicky, the artists created each unique design in collaboration with Rolls-Royce to give them a personal touch. Rolls-Royce Roger Daltrey, the legendary lead singer of The Who, designed not one, but two bespoke Rolls-Royce Wraiths. The first design will not only show off your wealth, but also your fandom for The Who, featuring iconography from the band's history. The famous 'bullseye' logo adorns the face of the dashboard clock and has been stitched into the leather between the two rear seats, while lyrics from some of the band's most popular singles have been engraved into the door flights. His signature is also etched in the headrests, while the back of the driver's seat has a reference to the band's tradition of destroying instruments at the end of a show. The second design is more striking, featuring the cover art of the band's seminal album 'Tommy' stamped on the hood, along with a Lyrical Copper exterior finished with a blue coachline of a bird in flight referencing the album sleeve. Other references to the album include headrests with unique design motifs from the album artwork and lyrics engraved in the door flights. Sir Ray Davies of the Kinks and famous producer and songwriter Giles Martin also contributed to the 'Inspired By British Music' project. Dame Shirley Bassey, Status Quo's Francis Rossi and The Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood will also be contributing designs. Each bespoke Rolls-Royce Wraith will go on sale later in the year, with a portion of the value going to charities selected by each artist. "The enduring allure of Rolls-Royce has been encouraged over the years by some of the world's most famous and important music icons," said Torsten Muller-Otvos, Rolls-Royce CEO. "This collaboration – with some of Britain's most celebrated musicians – promises to add to this legacy, creating truly unique collectors' items which also support worthy charities". It's certainly a unique collaboration, combining the prestige of the luxury automaker with the legacy of some of the best British rock acts ever.
