Wait There' s Going To Be Another 14 Transformers Movies

Apr. 06, 2017 5:40 PM ET by Martin Bigg Movies & TV / 34 Comments And you thought The Fast and the Furious was outstaying its welcome. There's a lot of hype surrounding the imminent release of The Fate of the Furious this month, but it isn't the only destructive car action movie out this year. While the eighth installment in the long-running franchise looks like it will feature some of the most over the top stunts seen in the series yet, Transformers: The Last Knight shouldn't be underestimated. Director Michael Bay has consistently proven himself to be the master of mayhem – love him or loathe him, the man knows how to film a spectacular action scene. Like The Fast and Furious, don't expect the Transformers series to end any time soon. Many must have groaned when it was revealed that there are already plans to release a Fast and Furious 9 and 10 in the future, but it looks like the Transformers franchise will continue long after The Fast and Furious ends. While The Last Knight will supposedly be the last Transformers movie to be directed by Michael Bay (how many times have we heard that before?), the filmmaker confirmed to MTV that there are potentially 14 more Transformers movies still to come. Yes, seriously. "There are 14 stories written and there's good stuff," he told MTV. Chevrolet Seemingly, audiences will never get tired of watching over-dramatic explosions and cars morphing into giant CGI robots. As filming wrapped up for The Last Knight, the writers apparently spent an entire month brainstorming ideas which explains how they already have 14 potential new movies in the pipeline. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean every story will spawn a movie, but if the series keeps printing money the studio will keep churning out these movies, so it wouldn't surprise us. Chances are The Last Knight will spawn a new cinematic universe if the studio has long-term plans for the franchise. A Bumblebee spin-off movie is already due to be released in 2018. Oh, and don't believe Bay's claims that The Last Knight will be his last Transformers movie – he's already expressed his desire to direct at least one Transformers spin-off. He just can't leave the franchise alone. Transformers: The Last Knight blasts into cinemas on June 23. So far, we've only seen brief glimpses of the movie's car action, including a Lamborghini Centenario careering through the streets of London. Bumblebee will of course be returning as a sixth-gen Camaro alongside its real life rival in the form of a modified Mustang cop car. We'll have to wait and see if Transformers: The Last Knight can outdo the mass destruction in The Fate of the Furious, but it won't be an easy feat.
