Jaguar XJ50 Celebrates 50 Years Of The Legendary Luxury Sedan

The Jaguar XJ turned 50 this year, so to commemorate its legacy the British automaker is launching a new special edition model. Revealed at the Beijing Auto Show, the Jaguar XJ50 celebrates half a century of the flagship luxury sedan and features a slew of exterior enhancements including front and rear bumpers styled like the range-topping Autobiography edition, as well as a unique set of 20-inch Venom wheels, a black front grille and unique badging adorning the rear and side vents. Jaguar A choice of exterior colors include Fuji White, Santorini Black, Loire Blue and Rosello Red. Inside, the luxurious cabin features soft-grain diamond-quilted seats with swanky headrests and an XJ50 logo adorning the center armrest. Further distinguishing the anniversary model are XJ50-badged illuminated treadplates, as well as anodised gearshift paddles and bright metal pedals. In the UK, the XJ50 will be available in either short- or long-wheelbase guises. Both models are powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 delivering 296 horsepower. The US version, on the other hand, will only be available as a long-wheelbase model. Jaguar The US model will also be offered with either a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 good for 340 hp or a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 470 hp. "Spanning half a century, the Jaguar XJ remains true to its heritage with a wonderful balance of beautiful design, intelligent performance and indulgent luxury that ensures it stands out from the crowd," said Jaguar design director Ian Callum. "This is a car worth celebrating and the XJ50 pays homage to a giant within the Jaguar brand that we believe is one of the world's most stylish sporting saloons." While the XJ50 is a fitting tribute to the lavish sedan, what we're really waiting for is the all-new XJ to commemorate the model's 50th anniversary. The current XJ is starting to show its age having been on sale for nearly a decade, so a replacement is long overdue. Fortunately, Jaguar will be revealing an all-new version of the flagship sedan later this year with an all-electric powertrain and a sleeker design sporting a five-door layout. Jaguar
