Watch A Ferrari 308 GTS Get Trashed In Magnum P I Reboot Trailer

Like many iconic 1980s films and TV shows, Magnum P.I. is being rebooted for the 21st century. Slated to air later this fall on CBS, the series stars Jay Hernandez who will be reprising the role of private investigator Thomas Magnum originally played by Tom Selleck. While Hernandez's version of Magnum won't be donning the famous moustache, he will still be getting behind the wheel of some flashy Ferraris. The original 1980s TV series was instrumental for increasing Ferrari's exposure in the US. Karen Neal, CBS The show helped make the Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole a 1980's icon, just as Miami Vice did for the Ferrari Testarossa and Lamborghini Countach. Ahead of its TV premiere later in the year, a new action-packed trailer has been released for the pilot episode of the Magnum P.I. reboot featuring several Ferraris getting a workout. Sadly, not all of them survive in one piece. We first see Magnum in a Ferrari 458 Spider, which gets riddled with bullets before being rammed into by an ambulance. He then gets behind the wheel of the familiar Ferrari GTS Quattrovalvole from the original TV show, which gets destroyed and thrown off a cliff during a chase against a Mercedes truck. Finally, the trailer ends with Magnum driving away in a brand new Ferrari Portofino. If the over the top action scenes look like they came out of Fast & Furious, that's because the pilot episode was directed by none other than Justin Lin, who helmed five Fast & Furious films from Tokyo Drift in 2006 to Fast & Furious 6 in 2013. Lin has proven to be a very capable action director, which makes us confident the car scenes in the Magnum P.I. reboot will be worth watching. Let's just hope the special effects are improved, because they leave a lot to be desired right now in the scene where the 308 GTS gets trashed and Magnum jumps off a falling truck onto a helicopter.
