Take A Look Inside The Reborn Toyota Supra

The wait for the reborn Toyota Supra is agonizing. We've been eagerly anticipating the return of the iconic Japanese sports car, which has been out of production since, ever since BMW and Toyota announced a joint partnership to develop a new sports car back in 2014. It looked like new Supra would finally break cover at this year's Geneva Motor Show, but Toyota instead revealed a racing concept based on the Supra. Suffice to say, it looks like we'll be waiting a while for the production-ready road-going version to show up. Toyota Great Britain recently stated it will finally debut early next year, possibly at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. Luckily, we already have a good idea what the reborn Supra will look like in production form thanks to numerous spy shots, videos and leaks. At this point, the new Supra must be one of the most frequently spied prototype cars in recent years, which only raises our anticipation. This latest batch of spy shots show the latest prototype of the Japanese sports car being put through its paces around the Nurburgring. We've already seen the exterior a countless number of times, but our spies also got a first look inside the interior. Previous spy shots of earlier prototype models featured interiors fitted with components sourced from the BMW Z4, but this appears to have the correct dashboard. We get to see the Supra's fully digital instrument cluster, and the air vents appear to have a metal finish. Elsewhere, the infotainment screen is positioned high on the center console above the air vents. The look of the steering wheel isn't very inspiring, but it isn't clear if it represents the final design. Silver shift paddles are located behind the wheel for the automatic transmission, reaffirming reports that the new Supra won't be getting a manual. As a reminder, the new Toyota Supra will be powered by a BMW-sourced turbocharged six-cylinder engine. Reports suggest it will be a 3.0-liter unit with around 340 hp paired to a dual-clutch gearbox. While the Z4 and Supra will share the same platform, Toyota says the Supra will be "quite different" from the BMW.
