McLaren Sent Future BP23 Owners This Slick 3D Interior Sculpture

Apr. 04, 2018 2:30 PM ET by Jay Traugott Supercars / 5 Comments And they'll be sitting in the real deal less than a year from now. McLaren has not been shy about divulging details about its upcoming three-seat Hyper-GT, codenamed BP23. Several months ago, McLaren released its own spy shots of a test mule inside and out, and has since given us a few sketches. Is it really an F1 successor? Kind of, but not exactly. Remember, the BP23 will sport the latest hybrid technologies, and will be the automaker's fastest and most luxurious creation to date. So what will it share with the analog F1, aside from the three-seat setup and 106-unit production run? Not much. All 106 examples have been spoken for, and McLaren is already getting those future owners excited for what will soon be delivered by sending them a 'money-can't-buy' BP23 'Speed Form' sculpture. It offers a detailed glimpse at the hypercar's interior. Owners will receive their sculptures this week. Each three-dimensional, individually numbered 'Speed Form' required over 100 hours to create, including 30 hours of hand-polishing. It weighs roughly 8 pounds and measures 15 inches, by 8 inches, by 3 inches. Each one was machined using a 5-axis CNC cutting technology, but was hand-assembled and finished. Slick. McLaren has still not decided on the BP23's official name (because it's part of the Ultimate Series, it won't be alphanumerical), but we'll know fairly soon. After all, it's expected to be revealed in less than a year's time. The BP23, also McLaren's most aerodynamic production car ever, will come powered by the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the 720S, but will be linked to a hybrid system for lots of extra juice. Top speed is projected at more than 243 mph. McLaren
