Last week, Ford released fuel economy numbers and an impressive 30 mpg highway figure for its newest addition to the F-150 range: the 3.0-liter V-6 Power Stroke. Those figures, however, weren't published with pricing information, but The Drive asked for the details and they received a whopper. When the 2018 Ford F-150 Power Stroke goes on sale later this year, it will cost thousands more than even the truck's top-tier 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and 5.0-liter V-8 engines. The Power Stroke turbodiesel will not be available on lower-trimmed work trucks. Those seeking diesel torque and efficiency will need to first choose the Lariat trim, which is fitted as standard with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 at a price of $42,410 including destination. Adding the Power Stroke adds a few thousand more. "On the F-150 Lariat, with its standard 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, the walk to the 3.0-liter Power Stroke is $4,000, or $2,400 more than the 3.5-liter EcoBoost " a Ford spokesperson told The Drive via email. Higher trims see similar price jumps. "On the F-150 King Ranch and Platinum, with the standard 5.0-liter V-8 engine, the walk to the 3.0-liter Power Stroke is $3,000, or $2,400 more than the 3.5-liter EcoBoost option," the rep said. The new diesel can easily help push prices into the mid-$70,000 arena. The 2018 Ford F-150 Power Stroke will start arriving at dealers next month.
