Alfa Romeo Giulia And Stelvio Get The Blacked-Out Special Edition Treatment

Alfa Romeo didn't have any major reveals at the New York Auto Show, but it did showcase a couple of new special editions for the Giulia and Stelvio to give its SUV and sedan some extra spotlight. Available exclusively for the 2.0-liter turbocharged models with 280 horsepower, the Nero Edizione (that's Italian for 'Black Edition') Packs give the sedan and SUV a dark makeover, adding a grille surround in a shade Alfa Romeo is calling Dark Miron. Alfa Romeo The mirror caps and exterior badges, are also draped in Dark Miron, while the headlight bezzels and exhaust tips are also blacked out, though the latter won't be available at launch. In addition, a monotone version of the Alfa Romeo badge has been added to the wheel caps, and the brake calipers are finished in either black, red, or yellow. The Nero Edizione Package also includes model-specific upgrades. A Dark Miron rear fascia appliqué has been added to the Stelvio SUV along with gloss black roof rails and a set of 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Dark Miron, while the Giulia sedan rides on 19-inch Dark Miron aluminum wheels. Since it's an appearance package, there are no mechanical updates for either model. If you need a refresher, the Gulia is Alfa Romeo's answer to the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4, packing a 4-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft. of torque on tap enabling the sedan to hit 0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Introduced this year, the Stelvio SUV packs the same engine as the Gulia but is a tenth of a second quicker off the line than its sedan sibling. Both the Gulia and Stelvio have helped Alfa Romeo gain sales traction in the US. In total, 12,031 units were shifted in the US representing a growth of over 2,000 percent.
