All-Wheel Drive Tesla Model 3 Performance Specs Finally Revealed

So far, the Tesla Model 3 has only been available with rear-wheel drive, a single electric motor, and a long-range battery. A dual motor, all-wheel drive version is also coming, but specifications have been kept a closely guarded secret – until now. On Twitter, Elon Musk finally revealed details about the much-anticipated all-wheel-drive and performance versions of the Model 3. He also confirmed that orders for the more powerful variants are now open, adding that the "driving feel is amazing". Tesla Topping the Model 3 range is the Performance trim, featuring 20-inch wheels, a carbon fiber spoiler, black and white interior and a dual-motor setup. It costs $78,000 including options, but AutoPilot costs extra. Musk added that it costs "about" the same as a BMW M3, but claims it's quicker by 15 percent, has better handling, and will "beat anything in its class on the track". 0-62 mph in the Tesla Model 3 Performance takes 3.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 155 mph. Musk also claims it will deliver a range of 310 miles on a single charge. If you don't want all the upgrades and just want to add a second motor for all-wheel-drive, this option costs an extra $5,000. Compared to the Model 3's 0-62 time of 5.1 - 5.6 seconds and 130 mph top speed with a single motor configuration, the Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive version can sprint to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 140 mph. Adding an extra motor also increases the reliability. One motor is optimized for power while the other is optimized for range, but the car can still be driven if one of them breaks down.
