Ram Power Wagon Mojave Sand Edition Looks Ready To Hop Dunes

Sep. 18, 2018 5:06 AM ET by Noah Joseph Special Editions / 11 Comments Heavy-duty off-roader embraces the Desert Storm-trooper look. Off-road light-duty trucks like the Ram Rebel and Ford F-150 Raptor are pretty hardcore. But they're still light-duty trucks. If you want a heavy-duty truck, capable of taking anything the wild outdoors has to throw at it, the Ram Power Wagon may be your best bet. And it's just gotten a bit more tempting with the introduction of the Mojave Sand edition.
Borrowing the Ram Rebel's most popular color option, the Power Wagon Mojave Sand edition looks suitably subdued and ready to hop some serious desert dunes. The beige paint contrasts nicely with the black wheels and comes with an all-black interior, too. FCA The Mojave Sand edition also comes with FCA's Uconnect 8.4-inch infotainment system and the Heavy Duty Luxury Group as standard, bundling in extra equipment like LED bed lighting, overhead console with garage-door opener, and power heated/folding side mirrors. Based on the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4x4 Crew Cab, the Power Wagon boasts 14.3 inches of ground clearance on a two-inch lifted suspension, locking diffs front and rear, an electric disconnecting front sway bar, and a 12,000-pound power winch. Power comes from the big 6.4-liter Hemi V8, sending 410 horsepower to all four of those 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler off-road tires. FCA "The Ram Power Wagon is the most off-road capable production pickup in the market today," said Ram brand chief Jim Morrison, "and offering the new Mojave Sand special-edition will appeal to enthusiasts looking for a truck that stands above the crowd." Only 1,500 examples will be made for delivery starting later this year. It'll cost you $54,830 (plus $1,695 destination) to put in your driveway, which represents a $2,035 premium over the standard Ram 2500 Power Wagon – but the bulk of that (at $1,440) would be taken up by the Uconnect and Luxury Group options (included in the special edition) anyway.
