2020 Genesis G80 Spied With GV80 Concept Styling Cues

Sep. 09, 2018 11:00 AM ET by Martin Bigg Spy Shots / 3 Comments The new redesigned Genesis G80 has been spotted lapping the Nurburgring. Genesis is preparing to unleash a new redesigned G80 luxury sedan, as you can see in these new revealing photos sent to us by our spy photographers showing a prototype lapping the Nurburgring with only a thin vinyl wrap disguising the design. While the current model is essentially an upgraded version of the Hyundai Genesis, which was Hyundai's luxury model before the Genesis brand was formed, the new G80 is being built from the ground up. CarBuzz CarBuzz As a result, the new G80 has larger dimensions and a more pronounced front end, giving the car a more distinctive design than the current model to help it stand out from its German premium sedan rivals. A longer hood and short overhangs further distinguish it from the current car, while the grille pattern and headlight design appear to be inspired by the GV80 concept. The large taillights with parallel bars also mimic the GV80. CarBuzz Powertrain options are a mystery, but the engine options from the current model could carry over. Engine options for the current G80 include a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 311 horsepower and a 420-hp 5.0-liter V8, while the G80 Sport trim comes with a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 hp on tap. A plug-in hybrid version is also likely to be on the cards. The new Genesis G80 is expected to debut in 2019 as a 2020 model. CarBuzz
