Can' t Wait For the GT500 The 700-Plus HP Shelby GT Is Here

Aug. 19, 2018 12:30 PM ET by Jared Rosenholtz Tuning / 13 Comments Shelby steals our hearts yet again. At the beginning of the year, Ford teased us with a new Mustang that would sit above the Shelby GT350 in the lineup. This new model would bring back the GT500 name and offer up over 700 horsepower. We knew Ford was set to reveal a new Mustang model at this year's Woodward Dream Cruise, and we hoped it would be the GT500. Alas, the big reveal ended up being the new Cobra Jet, which isn't street legal. Shelby American, however, has revealed its own brand-new Mustang models at Woodward, the 2019 Shelby GT, and GT-H. Both cars will be available through select Ford dealerships in coupe or convertible body styles with a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic and should keep Mustang enthusiasts happy until the GT500 arrives. Shelby The base car is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 producing 480 hp (the same as the new Mustang Bullitt), courtesy of a sports exhaust. Prices start at $61,345 or $66,345 for the Hertz rental racer-inspired Heritage Premium model - this includes the cost of the base Mustang as well as a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. If 480 hp isn't enough for you, Shelby will also offer a Ford Performance supercharger that will boost power to over 700 hp. Shelby American Each car will come with a unique Shelby Serial number that will be included in the official Shelby registry. The GT-H model (shown in pictures) will be available in either black or white with gold racing stripes and gold wheels will also be available as an optional extra. There are plenty of tuned Mustangs out there, but few offer the heritage and prestige of a Shelby. Shelby Shelby Shelby
