Here' s A Better Look At The Forbidden Ford Focus ST

We've been eagerly anticipating the all-new Ford Focus ST. or at least we were until Ford dropped the bombshell that it's killing every passenger car it sells in the US to focus on the more popular pickup and SUV segments, sparing only the mighty Mustang and the Focus Active. Sadly, that means we won't be getting the all-new Focus ST, so we can't help feeling a tad bitter after seeing these fresh new photos sent by our spy photographers. Ford has already unveiled the all-new Focus hatchback for Europe but seems to be struggling to keep the ST version a secret, as this isn't the first time we've caught it being tested. Since we last saw the 2019 Focus ST lapping the Nurburgring, the prototype has dropped a lot of camouflage, giving us a clearer look at Ford's new hot hatch. There's still some camouflage covering the front fascia however, which should look more aggressive than the standard model as the bumper will change to give the car a sportier look. This is complemented by a diffuser on the rear bumper between the dual exhaust pipes and an obligatory rear spoiler. The suspension will also likely be tweaked to offer a firmer ride and lower the ride height, while bigger brakes will provide additional stopping power. Like the standard car, the new Focus ST will be built on Ford's next-generation front-wheel-drive platform. Sources suggest power will most likely come from a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine expected to deliver around 250-275 horsepower to keep up with the competition in the hot hatch segment, while the new Focus RS is rumored to use a mild hybrid powertrain delivering 400 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of peak torque. Ford is expected to reveal the new Focus ST early next year, but as we said earlier the chances of it coming to America are zero.
