Tesla Model 3 Is Already A Top 10 Seller In the US

Aug. 05, 2018 11:05 AM ET by Jared Rosenholtz / 7 Comments Well, that didn't take long. Tesla's production woes with the Model 3 have been well publicized as the company previously struggled to produce its mass-market car in large quantities. It seems Tesla finally reached its production goals and has now opened up Model 3 orders to non-reservation holders. Now that the Model 3 is becoming more attainable, it comes as no surprise that it is selling extremely well. According to sales data collected by Good Car Bad Car, the Model 3 now ranks within the top 10 best-selling cars in America. According to Inside EVs, furthermore, Tesla sold 14,250 units of the Model 3 in July, making it the seventh best-selling car in the US behind the Toyota Corolla and Camry, Honda Accord and Civic, and Nissan Sentra and Altima. Now that Model 3 production is somewhat steady, the car has an opportunity to break sales records. Based on 14,250 units sold in July, the Model 3 has already set a single-month sales record for an electric vehicle or plug-in. The Model 3 has also set a yearly sales record (with five months still remaining) for electric vehicles with 38,617 units sold to date. CarBuzz The Model 3 has a strong chance to break into the top five of sedan sales, though Good Car Bad Car's figures don't account for General Motors, who only reports quarterly sales. We enjoyed last month's drive in the Tesla Model 3, and are happy to see it selling well now that production issues are seemingly in the past. Tesla Tesla CarBuzz
